Nikon D300

出廠時所選設定為s(單次伺服自動對焦)。

Nikon D300 - A Piece of Art

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Yesterday I spent a whole busy Sunday for test shot of Nikon D300 and editing some files. I’m proud to say that I’m the only  wedding or portrait photographer in the country to have been given this camera to test.  I’ll definitely post a review of the camera in the next few days, but I’ve got clients to take care of before I take the time I need to write it.

My first impressions, as expected, were mind blowing. To be brief, I’m stunned at how responsive this D300 is and I didn’t believe there was  much room for improvement to the way the D2xs handled. I was clearly wrong. The Focus, feel of the shutter, focus point selection, enormous  LCD, auto white balance, dynamic range, color rendition, and a few other things have all been written about and touted, but nothing prepared  me for the incredible quality of the files out of camera. In addition, the high ISO performance, which was also talked about, is nothing short of  revolutionary.

In case anyone was wondering, I’m unable to post full rez files until after Photo-plus and these files were absolutely STRAIGHT OUT OF  CAMERA!!!! In addition, there is no software to open NEF(RAW) files yet so these are all JPG’s with absolutely nothing done to them besides a  reduction in file size for the web. Most images were captured with auto white balance. For the decor photos, I dialed in 2500 K to nail the color  temperature. If these are the JPG’s,
This camera literally changes the rules of photography and will simply allow me to capture things like never before. I’ll post the full review as soon as possible.  I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the new lenses Nikon sent to me. The 14-24mm 2.8 and the 24-70mm 2.8 are amazing pieces of glass. I’ll also  review these as well. In a nutshell, you must handle them at Photo-plus if you go. In any case, I took it for a test drive at yesterday’s wedding.  Cristina and Steven at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia. The decorator was the fabulous Evantine Design and the orchestra was The Eddie  Bruce Orchestra. Please keep in mind that I shot this camera quite sparingly. I only had it in my hands for 24 hours before I needed to use it for a  wedding. My obligation was to capture this day for my client, not test a camera. I did, however, find a few parts of the day that screamed for this  camera. The only hard part was putting it down. I love my D2xs, but I’ll be replacing them when I get my D300’s on a permanent basis. I’ll post  some data above the files.

Last night, I input all the images to the computer, turns out those pictures are fantastic, they are just like from a professsional photographer.

Nikon D300 digital camera is definitely a piece of art.

The Nikon D300 offers three focus modes selected by using the C,S,M switch located on the front of the camera under the lens release button.

Manual (M) Allows the user to manually focus the lens.

Single AF (S) In this mode, the camera focuses when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. Focus locks when the focus indicator appears in the viewfinder, and remains locked while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway (focus lock). This mode is best for still subjects such as landscapes.

Continuous-servo AF (C) The camera focuses continuously while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. This mode is best for moving subjects such as with photos of sporting events. If the subject moves while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, focus will be adjusted to compensate with predictive focus tracking.

The Nikon D300 digital camera incorporates Nikon’s new Multi-CAM3500DX AF sensor module offering improved subject acquisition and tracking performance by working in collaboration with the camera’s scene recognition system.

Primary features of the Multi-CAM3500DX AF sensor include:

1) Subject identification information and subject tracking information acquired from the new scene recognition system allows for improved subject acquisition performance by using color and light information from the D300’s 1005-segment RGB sensor to accurately track the subject.

2) In Dynamic AF area mode you can select to use 51, 21, or 9 focus points.

3) Contrast-detect AF is possible in live view mode (“Tripod” mode).

4) Offers 51 densely packed AF points in roughly the same area containing 11 focus points on the Nikon D200.

5) New 3D-tracking function, which automatically switches the active focus point to follow subject movement and maintain focus on the primary subject. (Action and sports)

6) 15 of the D300’s AF points operate as crosstype sensors when lenses with a maximum aperture of f/5.6 or faster are used.

You can manually select one of the 51 focus points and the camera will focus on the subject in the selected focus point only. The selected focus point is illuminated in the viewfinder display. When spot metering is used, metering is performed in the selected focus point.

You can manually select one of 51 focus points, although the camera will employ information from multiple focus points to determine focus. Select from 9-, 21-, 51-point, or 51-point with 3D tracking autofocus, depending upon the subject.

Nikon D300

Nikon D300

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Nikon New Introduce D300 Digital Camera

The D300 reacts with lightning speed, powering-up in a mere 0.13 seconds and shooting with an imperceptible 45 millisecond shutter release lag time. The D300 is capable of shooting at a rapid six frames per second and can go as fast as eight frames per second when using the optional MB-D10 Multi-Power Battery Pack.  In continuous bursts, the D300 can shoot up to 100 shots at full 12.3 megapixel resolution.

Similar to the D3, the Nikon D300 features Nikon’s exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System that is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera’s new features. The D300 features a new 51-point auto focus system with Nikons 3D Focus Tracking feature and two new LiveView shooting modes that allow users to frame a photograph using the cameras high-resolution LCD monitor. The D300 shares a similar Scene Recognition System as found in the D3 that promises to greatly enhance the accuracy of auto focus, auto exposure and auto white balance by recognizing the subject or scene being photographed and applying this information to the calculations for the three functions.

Nikon D200 digital SLR camera has been a runaway success for us because it embodies everything that performance-conscious photographers demand. With the D300, we’ve raised the bar with remarkable new features, greater resolution and speed, and even higher image quality, said Edward Fasano, general manager for Marketing, SLR Systems Products, at Nikon Inc. The D300 delivers an unmatched combination of quality, performance and value thats hard for discerning photographers to resist.

Nikon D300 digital camera also incorporates a range of innovative technologies and features that will significantly improve the accuracy, control and performance photographers can get from their equipment. Its new Scene Recognition System advances the use of Nikon’s acclaimed 1,005-segment sensor to recognize colors and light patterns that help the camera determine the subject and the type of scene being photographed, before a picture is taken.  This information is used to improve the accuracy of auto focus, auto exposure and auto white balance functions in the D300.  For example, the camera can track moving subjects better and by identifying them, it can also automatically select focus points faster and with greater accuracy. It can also analyze highlights and more accurately determine exposure, as well as infer light sources to deliver more accurate white balance detection.

Nikon D300’s Day Has Come

Fierce Competitor Nikon D300

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

The new Nikon  D300 Digital Camera is now shipping and available in stores. We have had the opportunity to try out a final production Nikon D300, and have just posted an image gallery with links to full resolution sample images from this exciting new camera.

Nikon D300 image samples gallery includes tests taken under a variety of conditions and lighting situations.

The Nikkor 45mm F/2.8P was originally designed as a very compact standard lens (only 17mm thin) to complement the Nikon FM3A, 35mm film camera.

The Nikon 45mm F/2.8P is compatible with all exposure modes of CPU-controlled Nikon SLRs like the Nikon D300.

The Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED zoom lens was used for most of the D300 test shots and a couple were taken with the Nikkor AF 50mm F1.8 fixed prime, a lens that offers very good results and excellent value for the money.

To highlight the great versatility and system compatibility of the D300, we decided to see how the Nikon D300 performs with the legacy Manual Focus Nikkor 45mm F/2.8P lens, which has an excellent reputation for sharpness and overall image quality.

A host of new Nikon technologies have been implemented in the Nikon D300 including; a newly developed 12.3 effective megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor with up to 3200 ISO sensitivity (+ Hi1 6400), a new precision 51-point AF system, a large 3.0-inch high resolution 920,000 pixel LCD information display supporting Live View Mode.

The D300 also features 6 frames per sec continuous shooting (up to 8 fps with new MB-D10 power grip), Nikon’s new Scene Recognition System and EXPEED image processing concept including “Picture Control” settings, an integrated self cleaning sensor unit, an in camera Retouch Menu (like on the D80), HDMI output and support for the new Nikon Wi-Fi transmitter WT-4.

Figure out Nikon D300 sample image gallery and see how this highly anticipated camera performs. In our opinion the D300 is a real joy to use and delivers the performance professional’s and serious prosumers demand.

Nikon D300 without doubt is a fierce competitor in the digital camera market.

Nikon D300’s Day Has Come

D300 is a Dream to Use and Hold

Friday, December 14th, 2007

The Nikon D300 Digital Camera is a heavy beast but it makes it feel more of a camera and you know that great things will come of it. The camera has a good grip and feels great in the hands which is to be expected. Two selector dials are situated around the shutter release to control the shutter speed and aperture. The 3in LCD screen dominates the rear of the camera with a separate screen for altering ISO, Resolution and White balance below. The screen is bright and has no motion blur. The Live view feature is not continuous as the camera must first be focused before the screen will enable so it not like a compact where images can be continuously taken with the screen. The camera can be linked up to a PC and the images viewed from its screen too when the camera is in tripod mode.

The D300 has a 6fps capability but that can be pushed to 8fps with the optional battery grip which is an upgrade to the D200’s 5fps.

The sensor of D300 Digital Camera has been redesigned and now the microlenses are gapless on the front which increases the amount of light available to the sensor. Once the brighter image has been captured, it goes to the processor which is an upgraded EXPEED sensor for faster processing and lower power consumption.

The major improvement to the D300 is the ground breaking 51 point Focus area. As the camera is focused, the main centre of the screen gives a satisfying red glow to say it is focused.

The D300 Digital Camera is a dream to use and hold, the download time screams past leaving the camera begging for more. Whilst I used it I was blown away by the performance and sheer colossal power of it. The D300 acted like a Professional DSLR, not the Semi-Pro that Nikon class it as.

Nikon D300’s Day Has Come

Nikon D300 Aggressively Competing in Market

Friday, December 14th, 2007

The Nikon D300 is Nikon’s latest semi-professional DSLR. Announced in August 2007, the new D300 comes less than two years after its predecessor, the popular D200 . This is in some contrast to the three and a half year wait between the D100 and D200, and proves Nikon now truly understands what needs to be done to compete aggressively in the current market.

The time-frame between models may have halved, but Nikon’s certainly not skimped on the capabilities of D300 Digital Camera. It features a new 12.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor, 6fps continuous shooting, a new 51 point AF system, 3in screen with VGA resolution, 100% viewfinder coverage, Live View facilities, the option of 14-bit RAW file recording, anti-dust capabilities and an HDMI port for direct connection to HDTVs. These features are packed into tough body with excellent ergonomics, making it an ideal camera not just for high-end enthusiasts, but also as a backup body for professional photographers.

The D300’s Live View facilities also offer the choice of focusing system: either the traditional phase-change system where the mirror temporarily flips down to take a reading, or a contrast-based system which works like a compact camera without interrupting the view.

It may feature a number of high-tech gadgets, but at its heart the D300 Digital Camera remains a semi-pro workhorse with superb ergonomics and great handling. There’s also a wide range of optional accessories including a battery grip which can boost continuous shooting to 8fps, a cable to directly connect to GPS units, and a Wifi transmitter.

After years of forcing DSLR owners to buy its Capture NX RAW processing program, Nikon has finally relented and includes it free with the D300 – albeit for an initial period only. Other optional software also includes Capture Pro II which allows you to control the camera with a PC and see a live feed on-screen

It’s an impressive specification, but up against tough competition. For a tad less you could buy the flagship Olympus pro camera, the E-3, which claims the world’s fastest AF (with the right lens) and a flip-out screen. For a little more you could go full-frame with Canon’s EOS 5D . Then there’s what are likely to be its two biggest rivals, the Canon EOS 40D  and Sony Alpha A700 . Both models have many features in common with the D300 Digital Camera  along with some key benefits, most notably coming in at a body price of approximately 50% less. Finally there is of course its predecessor the D200, which is also available much cheaper.

In our Nikon D300 Digital Camera review we’ll see how it measures-up against these models, comparing features, handling, usability, and of course will illustrate how the image quality compares against key rivals. There’s no doubt Nikon has built another superbly-featured DSLR, but has its strategy of offering a step-up at higher prices gone a little too far this time? Read on to find out, and as always you can see a demonstration of its key features in our Nikon D300 video tour.
